   BUILDING COMMUNITY

You are invited to an experiential workshop on:-

17 – 19th May 2019

In modern life, it is common to feel disconnected or that relationships with family, friends and colleagues are superficial, chaotic, in unresolved conflict or even impossible.

This London workshop will be led by trained and experienced facilitators, who will explain the guidelines to building community and help us to experience this in real time. We will discover through our group and inner process, ways to deeper and more authentic communication.

It cannot be guaranteed that any particular group will experience all the stages and reach a state of community. This depends on the willingness of the participants to take personal risks and engage with the group. It is nearly always possible to see a new way out of the seesaw of conflict and withdrawal. We aim for a deeper connection to our individual and collective spirit.

A community building workshop can be an intense and life changing experience and the intention is to provide opportunity for personal change.

The workshop will take place at: –

Initiatives of Change

24 Greencoat Place

London

SW1P 1RD

From 5 – 8.30pm on the Friday, 9am – 6pm on Saturday and 9am – 5pm on Sunday.

The workshop is non-residential and participants coming from a distance will need to book their own accommodation. Hot drinks will be provided during breaks Participants will need to buy their own meals and there are many shops and cafes nearby.

The fee for the workshop will be £250 or £220 for early booking, which will go towards the venue hire and expenses of the facilitators, event organisers and Building Community organisation. If you are able to contribute extra towards a bursary for those who could otherwise not attend we would be grateful. If you need a bursary in order to attend, please contact us. Bursary places are likely to be limited and will be made available on a first come, first served basis.

Priority for all places and bursaries will be given to those who have not attended a community-building workshop before. We expect there to be 20-50 participants.

Building Community ……

Is a group of individuals whose purpose is: –

“to practice and facilitate the community building process first described by M. Scott Peck”

We meet several times a year to build community, develop our practice and plan events. Please see our website for more about us and for a very informative video about attending a workshop. If you would like to sponsor a taster session in your area please contact us through the website.

M. Scott Peck ……

Author of The Road Less Travelled and A Different Drum, M. Scott Peck clarified the different stages or states of human relationships and guidelines for communication that help us to move through our barriers and toward a state of community in which we can resolve problems and work together harmoniously. With like-minded friends, he set up the Foundation for Community Encouragement to make the process known to a wider audience.
