This is a process which can best be learned by experiencing it together in a group and this is what we will be doing at the event on Saturday May 13th (10.00-4.30). We will be supported in doing this by two trained facilitators. There is no necessity to have had previous experience of community building. It is our hope that, after the day, it may be possible to set up an on-going group (in person or on-line) for people who are interested in developing more opportunities for community building in the North of England.

In Advance We will also be running a short, free, on-line event, introducing community building, on Sunday, March 26th, 11.00-13.00 for anyone who is thinking about attending the event but would like a little more information before deciding. If you or any of your friends or colleagues are interested in this, they should contact us at info@buildingcommunity.co.uk, as soon as possible.

Cost   We are a small voluntary organisation, with limited resources; we have tried to keep the price for the event as low as we can. The fee is £40, which will include a basic lunch and refreshments, and we have a very limited number of bursaries to offer to people who need help with this. If you can pay more than £40, please consider adding an additional amount to your payment, to support a bursary, and if you think you will need a bursary, please tell us about this at time of booking. Places are limited so book your place as soon as possible. Email info@communitybuilding.co.uk. The deadline for this is Friday, April 7th.

Getting There Trains are time-tabled to run regularly to Hebden Bridge from both Leeds and Manchester; the service has been unpredictable in recent months and you may need to allow extra time for your journey. Buses run to Hebden Bridge from Rochdale and Burnley and from Halifax and Huddersfield. There are several car parks in the town We will send some useful links for trains, buses and car parks at time of booking. Please also ask us about accommodation at time of booking as we have a list of potential suggestions.

What people have said about our community building events

Being aware of the stages of community helps me think about other
relationships or groups I’m in and how maybe to encourage a move towards
community.’

‘Most valuable was touching into that feeling of connection with others,
which for me is about making me feel less alone in the universe.
