A First Step in Community Building

Online Community Building Taster Workshop, October 17th 2020               (only a few places left)

I had never heard or attended taster sessions, I think that they are ideal gentle steps to introduce people into building community’

‘This was an experience in many ways new to me and one that I found useful and insightful. It was amazing how much support just being with others provides for all involved and we covered a lot of ground in a short space of time: I’ve been thinking about the four stages of community since and will continue to do so’

Although the workshop was not what I was expecting (I am not sure what I was expecting!) I thoroughly enjoyed it and the activities really resonated with me both personally and professionally’

Thank you so much for offering me the opportunity to take part in the workshop. It was really thought provoking and I’d love to learn more. Please do pass on my thanks to the facilitators too’

These are thoughts from some of the 16 participants who attended a Taster Workshop in Manchester. This included a short introduction to the four stages of community building and to useful principles and guidelines, two short experiential sessions and a reflective summary by the facilitators. It was followed by an informal Q and A.

Booking now open for Community Building Workshop May 2019

You are invited to an experiential workshop on:-

17 – 19th May 2019

In modern life, it is common to feel disconnected or that relationships with family, friends and colleagues are superficial, chaotic, in unresolved conflict or even impossible.

This London workshop will be led by trained and experienced facilitators, who will explain the guidelines to building community and help us to experience this in real time. We will discover through our group and inner process, ways to deeper and more authentic communication.

It cannot be guaranteed that any particular group will experience all the stages and reach a state of community. This depends on the willingness of the participants to take personal risks and engage with the group. It is nearly always possible to see a new way out of the seesaw of conflict and withdrawal. We aim for a deeper connection to our individual and collective spirit.

A community building workshop can be an intense and life changing experience and the intention is to provide opportunity for personal change.

The workshop will take place at: –

Initiatives of Change

24 Greencoat Place

From 5 – 8.30pm on the Friday, 9am – 6pm on Saturday and 9am – 5pm on Sunday.

The workshop is non-residential and participants coming from a distance will need to book their own accommodation. Hot drinks will be provided during breaks Participants will need to buy their own meals and there are many shops and cafes nearby.

The fee for the workshop will be £250 or £220 for early booking, which will go towards the venue hire and expenses of the facilitators, event organisers and Building Community organisation. If you are able to contribute extra towards a bursary for those who could otherwise not attend we would be grateful. If you need a bursary in order to attend, please contact us. Bursary places are likely to be limited and will be made available on a first come, first served basis.

Priority for all places and bursaries will be given to those who have not attended a community-building workshop before. We expect there to be 20-50 participants.
